METHODS TO CATCH A LION
Newton 's Method:
Let, the lion catch you.
For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.. Implies you caught lion.
Einstein Method:
Run in the direction opposite to that of the lion.
Due to higher relative velocity, the lion will also run faster and will get tired soon. Now you can trap it easily.
Software Engineer Method:
Catch a cat and claim that your testing has proven that its a Lion.If anyone comes back with issues tell that you will upgrade it to Lion.
Indian Police Method:
Catch any animal and interrogate it & torture it to accept that its a lion .
Rajnikanth Method :
Keep warning the lion that u may come and attack anytime. The lion will live in fear and die soon in fear itself.
Jayalalitha Method:
Send Police commissioner Muthukaruppan around 2AM and kill it, while it's sleeping !
Manirathnam Method (director):
Make sure the lion does not get sun light and put the lion in a dark room with a single candle lighted.
Keep murmuring something in its ears. The lion will be highly irritated and commit suicide.
Karan Johar Method (director):
Send a lioness into the forest. Our lion and lioness fall in love with each other.
Send another lioness in to the forest, followed by another lion. First lion loves the first lioness and the second lion loves the 2nd lioness. But 2nd lioness loves both lions. Now send another lioness (third) into the forest. You don't understand right... ok....
read it after 15 yrs, then also u wont!
Yash Chopra method (director):
Take the lion to Australia or US.. and kill it in a good scenic location.
Govinda method:
Continuously dance before the lion for 5 or 6 days.
Menaka Gandhi method:
Save the lion from a danger and feed him with some vegetables continuously.
George bush method:
Link the lion with Osama bin laden and then shoot him!!!
:D :D :D

Pranks on old friends
Hey i recently learned that my old school chum Amu has majorly gotten into shorthand.
Result you have to waste time trying to understand her orkut scraps!!! :O
Instead of saving time, its labouring enough for me to go through her whole typo n understand what she is trying to say.
So i struck her a deal. I threw her a challenge. And since she is in Delhi now, she promised to getting on deciphering it afterwards!!! lol
which gives her plenty of time anyways to get help.
according to her, my shorthand is bad. she doesnt know yet i purposely designed it to make it hard on her!!!
anyways i will post the entire para here along with the original one later.
i will also post this gals reactions. and since we are gonna meet up this month, the bet is if she gets it, i give her a chocolate otherwise she loses her smarts and chocolate as well. instead i get it.
i am gonna get soemthing from that stingy gal. lol

Long chats with old friends
School friends are some of our biggest chums!
And they are always nice to you, without any reason unlike sometimes some other friends who can be way off at times.
basically they are the sweetest & mean for u the best.
even ur so called meanest foe at school will wish the best for u.
isnt it strange that this happens. i am sure its happened to all of us at some point or the other.
today i had a phone chat with one of my oldest & closest school friends.
strange of me to think that i am engulfed by all these problems when in realty i never thought my friends could also be having a torrid time.
when we are lost in our own world as i have been for 4 years, we never care to think what might be happening outside. Beyond the periphery of our lives, lie many things both good n bad. by being boxed inside our own shells we fail to realise what could be lying straight outside our doorstep.
All in all a great experiance.

Chembur area
I was back to the chembur "bhulbhulaiya" area.
since i have only been to this place a second time, i end up in confusion. especially the area around diamond garden.
the plathora of roads and their numbers!
for example we had to search for which is road no. 8 to go to the hall for the wedding. all roads look the same. and since it was night time, there was more confusion.
thank good for good samaritans, a lady enthusiastically dirested us to the right lane! some people are always ready to shower info on others.

Wedding ceremonies and all that
i had gone to a wedding yesterday.
thankfully it was unlike most wedding ceremonies.
very sober, and without the much advertised glamour and pomp!
thankfully there was no noise pollution either. and set apart from the crowd the food was presentable & good.
vicky rates the whole thing 4 outta 5.
normally its 2 or 3 outta 5 in my book.

Getting Connected
so i joined Facebook world's top networking site & also orkut.
surprise surprise as soon as i joined them i managed to connect with school friends i had been out of touch with for 10 years!!! :o
its great to have sites which can reconnect people up like that & also make people make new connections.
just a nota of caution would be the tons of applications that can be added to one's profile.
not only isnt ur information shared with 3rd party applications which the original site refuses to vouch for (read at your own risk) but it also makes loading of member pages that much slower.
the more apps a person has added, the slower their page loads!!!
facebook's different from orkut in the sense one's profile isnt public unlike orkut where if u dont take care much info is shared. facebook gives a sense of control unfortunately u tend to loose it unwittingly the moment you start adding apps...

Outrageous parody on Indian Gods
Outrageous parody on Indian Gods
In his guise to portray Bollywood archetypical movies, Devendra Banhart has crossed a line.
anyone watching this video can find it even remotely funny?
firstly he doesnt understand Bollywood at all. Secondly this gross portrayal of Indian Gods may be ok with him, but not with us.
The video pokes fun at Hindu concept of reincarnation, Mahakali mata, Lord Ganesh & Shiva.

Seeds crash out of wimbledon
Seeded players continue to crash out of Wimbledon.
Today were the exits of Maria Sharapova, Andy Roddick, James Blake, Sania Mirza. Novak Djokovic, Davydenko, David Nalbandian, Daniela Hantuchova, Lindsay Davenport have already exited.
Looks like the 'seeds' have gotten some virus.

Sania Mirza out of wimbledon
Sania Mirza is out of Wimbledon 2008
Sania Mirza went out in the second round at Wimbledon. She lost to Spain's Maria Jose Martinez Sanchez 6-0 4-6 9-7.
Sanchez had the first set wrapped up 21 minutes thanks to her deft serve and volley skills. No less contribution was made by Sania herself by making a mess of her shots. Sania's game didnt rise till the 3rd game of the second set. Already 6-0 and 2-0 down in the second set, Mirza played with grit. Egged on by the ever present Indian supporters, she broke Sanchez's serve and managed to hold her own to make it a set all.
The third set saw Sania race to a 4-2 lead. Inspite of Sanchez's fight Mirza held 4 match points. Unfortunately she wasted all four of them. Sanchez kept her nerve and earned a decisive break and then served out the decider and the match.

Sania out of Ordina Open
Sania Mirza who is just returning from a long layoff after her wrist injury crashed out from the Ordina Open.
Playing against Dutch Michaella Krajicek in the 2nd round, she went down 2-6 2-6 in straight sets.
This is the second such loss for Mirza after she also lost in first round of the DFS Classic.
Incidently this is the 4th career defeat of Sania Mirza to Miss Krajicek.
"It was much easier than normal," said Krajicek. "We kind of share the same type of game, but today she played all-or-nothing. I could tell she was a bit off her rhythm, as this is just her second tournament back after being off the Tour with a wrist injury, but I felt like I was playing really solid.
I served well, was steady from the baseline and broke her when I got my chances."

Blogger Johar
Bloggers of the world rejoice, we have one more nut joining our tribe. As if film making & chat show hosting over a cuppa of coffee with toffees thrown in for good measure wasnt enough, K-Jo a.k.a. Karan Johar will now have a blog of his own!
Like Amitabh and Amir Khan, K-Jo is in need of some more publicity. Hence he has embarked on this path.
But the noble intention is "just to put his thoughts into writing rather than vocalising them all the time.
He added, "I feel a blog would be a good way to express my thoughts on cinema. Things that don't routinely get space in the traditional media outlets these days."
Apparently he is doing it for free and will only update it once a week! ha ha ha...

Hingis wore Lottie Dod's dress
MARTINA HINGIS has worn the dress. Now she’s here to buy the T-shirt!
The ladies legend famously claimed Lottie Dod’s mantle as youngest ever Wimbledon champion when she claimed the doubles crown with Helena Sukova in 1996.
And she revealed yesterday she had worn the actual dress little Lottie wore in 1887.
“I’m afraid my knowledge of Liverpool comes from looking through the programme,” she said.
“I knew Lottie was British, obviously, but I never knew she was from Liverpool until people told me when I broke her record.
“But I do have this photograph where I wore her dress which was displayed in the Wimbledon museum.
“Yes, it was a little tight, but I did get into it!”

Hingis on Liverpool Tennis
Six-time Grand Slam winner Martina Hingis talks exclusively to Liverpooltennis.co.uk as she looks forward to playing at the Tradition-ICAP Liverpool International Tennis Tournament later this month.
Liverpooltennis.co.uk: First of all Martina, we are all so pleased that you will play at Liverpool this summer, we haven't heard from you for a while, what have you been doing since announcing your retirement? Martina: I have been enjoying some quite time. I like to keep in pretty good shape so I still go out there and hit the ball around. Of course, I continue to spend a lot of time with my horses. Being retired has given me a little extra time with them which has been good.
Is there a reason why you picked Liverpool to come out of retirement and face the public eye again? I still get a lot of enjoyment from playing tennis and I think I have a lot to give back to the game. Liverpool is a city I have not yet been to but I have heard good things about it. The players speak highly of the event so I'm looking forward to coming for the first time.
Justin Henin has just announced her retirement at the age of 25. What do you think the reason is that female players in this generation tend to retire so early? Tennis takes a lot out of you. People think it is a very glamorous lifestyle, which in some ways it is, it can also be tiring traveling from city to city around the world for most of the year. Girls tend to start their careers very young so by the time you have reached your mid-20's, you could have been on the tour for 10 years already.
Henin had an amazing career and won seven Grand Slams by the age of 25. You won an incredible six Grand Slams by 17, how did that make you feel and was there ever a stage when you felt that this was the last one or did you feel it could go on for years to come? I had a great start to my career. I think when you are young you play with no fear and that is how I approached every match. I always went out on court believing that I could win, but there is no doubt that women's tennis has gotten stronger over the years.
Charlotte Lotti Dodd, from Merseyside, was the youngest Wimbledon winner at the age of 15 back in 1886, that record stood until your victory in 1996. Do you think your record will stand for 100 years? I hope so! 100 years is a long time, though, so I am sure there will be a few youngsters coming through to take my record!
Local girl Chloe Murphy, just turned 15, has been given a Wild Card entry to the WTA-players event. What advise would you give her as she tries to break into the WAT rankings? Always conitnue to enjoy the game. Don't be afraid of losing and always give it your best shot. Of course you have to be ready to work hard and be disciplined too.
There is talk about a women's Legends series. Is that something you would be interested in becoming a part of? Maybe one day I will do that but they would have to get rid of the age restriction!, I'm still a little young to consider it!
What are you looking most forward to in Liverpool? Traveling to new cities is always something I enjoy. I have not yet been to the North of England and I am looking forward to finding out if people really are football crazy. I've heard it's the culture capital for the year too so it will be good to see some of the events around that too.
You have enjoyed a great career, what do you think has been the key to your success? Hard work, a good team around me and enjoyment for the game.
What do you think your future holds? Will you continue to play tournaments such as Liverpool or do you see yourself doing something completely different? I will definitely want to stay in good shape so I can see myself playing some more exhibition events. I'll definitely keep up horse riding too.
How did you first get involved in tennis? My Mum has her own academy and she was the one to first put a racket in my hand.
What do you think are the strengths and weaknesses in your game? Physically I definitely needed to work hard to compete so that was always an important area for me to train on. I have a pretty good read of the game and that helps me anticipate where the ball will go. I would like to have had a stronger serve so I could win more free points but overall I think that being able to hit any shot from anywhere was a big weapon for me.
What are the good and bad points of being a professional tennis player? The good things are that you get to see a lot of different places around the world. Of course, if you are successful you can also earn a good living! You also get to do something you love every day and bring enjoyment to other people. The negative side is that it can become quite tiring with all the travel and you have to be prepared to make a lot of sacrifices to get to the top. You don't really have a normal teenage life, you spend those years on tour so you have to grow up very quickly.
How do you like to unwind when you are away from the tennis court? I like to go to the movies or have dinner with friends. Of course, I have my horse riding too.
What do you think you would have done if you hadn't become a tennis player? A champion horse rider for sure!
You spent 209 weeks as World No.1, only bettered by Stefi Graf, Martina Navratilova and Chris Evert, how did that feel? To have had the success I have in tennis has been a great thing. These are memories that will stay with me for the rest of my life.
The Tradition-ICAP Liverpool International Tennis Tournament runs from June 10-15th 2008 and features ATP and WTA players events as well as the Legends. Tickets are on sale now on this web site or you can book tickets either online at Ticketmaster or call 0870 1690 107.

Harbor Point tennis: Hingis plans to play in Marin

After a rough year away from the court, Martina Hingis is now a world-class tennis player who could use a chance to freshen her image. Thanks to Rosie Casals and the Harbor Point Charitable Foundation, Hingis has her chance.
Sausalito's Casals, a member of the International Tennis Hall of Fame, announced earlier this week that Hingis, a five-time Grand Slam winner and former No. 1, is the headlining player for the Esurance Tennis Classic charity event. The three-day showcase is Oct. 10-13 at Harbor Point Tennis Club in Strawberry.
Hingis has not played in a tournament since September. She retired from the women's professional tour last November after testing positive for cocaine at Wimbledon earlier in the year. Hingis denied taking any banned substance, but confirmed that at least one of her samples produced a positive result.
Since then, Hingis has not played competitively. According to reports, she is confirmed to play in the Liverpool International tournament, a non-WTA Tour event, in June. In January, the International Tennis Federation confirmed a doping offense and said she would be suspended from WTA events for two years. "We were looking for a good headliner. She was available and willing," Casals said. "(The suspension) is a tough issue for her. Unfortunately, that's something most people are going to thing about instead of what a great career she has had. É This is a player known for her manners and sportsmanship on the court. É
People need to get to Considering all that, Harbor Point and its goodwill-inducing event is probably the perfect place for the world's former No. 1 player. The showcase, which began in 2005, is a fund-raiser for two cancer organizations and a youth tennis project. In the past, those causes helped lure players like Martina Navratilova, Chris Evert, Tracy Austin and Lindsay Davenport.
Hingis isn't the only world-class name on the docket for this year's event. Corina Morariu, Conchita Martinez, Mary Joe Fernandez, Murphy Jensen, Jan-Michael Gambill and Bud Collins join Marin residents Barry MacKay and Brad Gilbert. Other players and celebrities are still being finalized.
"We are extremely happy to have (Hingis), as well as all the others," Casals said. "It's an exciting event and I want everyone to come on out."
General admission is $25 for adults, $10 for kids. VIP packages are limited, but available. This year's event will be televised by Comcast Sports Net Bay Area and on the Versus network. Info: Call 246-7075 or go to www.tennisclassic.org.

Identity Crisis
Hey i used to have a parallel blog on sulekha.com and Mr. Kartik Kannan had invited me to blog there. The idea was i was going to post here and then it would be automatically updated there. but they didnt do it for several months.
inspite of reminding them nothing happened, so i posted links of my blog posts from here. but since it was a violation of their policy as they said in an email to me that i "dont contribute any posts but am only promoting my blog". they removed me as a member. and none of the posts or my profile url were working.
so i thought that was the end of it. but now it seems the page is back!!!
http://vidhyutksworld.sulekha.com/
and you can see it!!! plus the profile lists some other name "desaiganj" or something! do you think this amounts to identity theft? i mean you cant just alot one person's url to another?!!!
so i dashed them an email requesting them to remove it. the contents of the mail i will put here:
please remove my profile and blog url from your site as i no longer am allowed to post here. i thought this page and url must be defunct by now. the url is
http://vidhyutksworld.sulekha.com/
and who in the world is desaiganj, vadasa? the name is on the url page.
it must not be active at all and can cause problems to my own online profile. and my online identity.
http://vidhyutksworld.blogspot.com/
please see to this at the earliest.
Let me see what happens next. watch this space.
if you would like to you can send them feedback here. feedback@sulekha.net

Drunken mobs same worldwide
Scouring the times of india, a piece of news caught my attention.
With the recent outrage looming large over the Juhu molestation incident, this seemed like deja vu.
It seems a mob in Australia did the same with women out there and this race car event was promoted as a "family event"!
Hundreds of people took to the streets of Canberra for the annual Summernats festival, billed as a family event. Instead drunken young men morphed into mobs harassed any woman they found in their sight and demanded they flash their breasts.
Booze and boys never mix especially when they get into mobs.
And this phenomenon will only become more common in India as we become more western in our lifestyles. And for all those much tooted values of ours by conservatives, why dont you ask the men to not drink.
So while the woman's dress is criticised, its ok to get drunk and act lousy!?

Sharapova screams close to siren/aircraft sound!
At Wimbledon, the London tabloids' famous grunt-o-meter first used to measure the squeals of Monica Seles has recorded Sharapova's noise level at 101.2 decibels - the equivalent, apparently, of a police siren at close range or a small aircraft landing nearby.
Damn i was shocked to read this.
One thing one must never do with this woman is to startle her. perhaps getting her angry will also have the same effect, unless you plan to get a hearing aid soon.
Read this cool article about players noise formula to beat other players:

Monica Seles News
Seles considering comeback.
After the much tainted Martina Hingis and Lindsay Davenport's successful comebacks, yesteryear star Monica Seles is talking about making yet another comeback.
Sidelined with foot injuries, she never officially retired.
"I still love to play. That has never lessened," Seles told the LA Times. "What Lindsay did was just so cool. And what I know now, I wish I had known then. Like stretching more before and after matches. You go out and win 6-3 6-1 and say that was easy and you wouldn't stretch. I guess I kind of had two tennis careers. And now perhaps a third. I certainly would not ever be able to do a full schedule again, because of the foot."
"But I'm thinking about the Slams and about some of the better tournaments that lead into them. I won't decide for sure until the beginning of the year and the Australian is certainly not possible. But Miami. Maybe.", she added.
